Just call me Florence Nightingale

The Florence Nightingale of animals, that is.

Being a friend of all animals great & small has is pros and cons. Ever since I was a little girl, I've been bringing in the injured, the sick, and the dying. I've been rescuing those in distress. Whether it has feathers or fur, wings or a tail, I have always been there to save the day.

Sometimes it makes me feel like more of a superhero than it should (my husband is the REAL superhero!), but if I can help or rescue or rehabilitate a tiny, innocent creature...I'll be there to save the day.

On a side note: you start to look at your dog a little differently after he's had an itty bitty baby bunny in his mouth...

I found 5 little tiny, newborn bunnies in a little burrow (dug by the mother) in what seems to now be a small animal branch & twig sanctuary in our back yard. Buddy found one first - the little thing was still alive, thank goodness - and I found the rest and took them to a local vet.

Some of the mothers fur and grass that was in the burrow:

That's awesome you found the baby bunnies and were able to rescue them from the jaws of Buddy and Miss Daisy. Poor momma bunny will be so sad though. If you see her or here her crying, say a quick prayer for her that she will find comfort knowing they are safe. You are so right about being the rescuer. I still remember you trying to save a baby bird that had fallen out of the nest and/or gotten caught in the jaws of one of our cats. Speaking of birds... I'll post a pic here in a minute of the robin who must've done a commakazy dive in to the front window today. So sad!
